Award-Winning Product Photography – Chrysalis Silk Treasures
After Chinese New Year, I received some exciting news from the European Product Design Award (ePDA)—a recognition that truly marks a special milestone in my career.
I am honored to announce that the ‘Chrysalis Silk Treasures’ series, photographed by me, has been named a Winner in PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY – Packaging Product Design Photography by the ePDA committee. This project, featuring packaging designed by the talented team at Never-Never Design Studio, captures the essence of luxury, transformation, and beauty through meticulous visual storytelling.
The Concept Behind Chrysalis Silk Treasures
Inspired by the evolution of a chrysalis into a butterfly, the packaging design embodies the brand’s philosophy of renewal and elegance. Key design elements include:
✨ A chrysalis illustration in the background, symbolizing the beauty of transformation
✨ An embossed cocoon texture in the top-right corner, adding depth and a tactile representation of protection and regeneration
✨ Patriot Blue textured paper, enhancing the luxurious aesthetic with its refined and sophisticated feel
Capturing these intricate details through high-end product photography required precise lighting, expert styling, and a deep understanding of packaging aesthetics. This project was a true collaboration between design and photography, bringing a vision of elegance and craftsmanship to life.
A Milestone in My Photography Journey
Looking back on my humble beginnings as a product photographer in an in-house packaging design company in the mid-90s, receiving this award in Packaging Product Design Photography is incredibly humbling. It reaffirms my passion for capturing the essence of products through storytelling and artistic composition.
